Cancun to Valladolid by ADO Bus
The cheapest way to get to Valladolid is by bus. ADO is the largest and most popular bus company in Mexico. The Mexican ADO buses are safe, air-conditioned, comfortable, and cheap.
There are no direct buses from Cancun Airport to Valladolid. As there is no Uber at the airport, you will need to take another ADO bus or taxi into the city and then transfer to the direct bus to Valladolid.
The A/C buses run all day from the airport to Cancun ADO Bus Station every 30-45 minutes from 00:50 to 23:40. The travel time is approximately 45 minutes, and the bus ticket costs 140 MXN (7 USD) per person.

Rent a Car and Drive from Cancun Airport to Valladolid
One of the best ways to get to Valladolid is by car. Once you arrive at Cancun International Airport (airport code CUN), you can easily rent a car at the airport or pick up your pre-booked car.
We picked up our car at the airport, then drove to Valladolid and visited Chichen Itza the next day. The journey from Cancun Airport to Valladolid takes about 2 hours, depending on traffic. The roads are well-maintained and safe to drive in Mexico.
Car rental will cost around 30-40 USD daily for a standard car with full coverage. Book your car in advance to get the best price!
Toll Road from Cancun to Valladolid
The 180D highway connecting Cancun and Valladolid is a toll road costing 408 MXN (20 USD). They don’t accept credit cards or dollars, so make sure you bring enough Mexican pesos! There are no ATMs and few petrol stations between Cancun and the highway.

You should agree on the fixed price with the taxi driver before you get in because most taxis don’t have fare meters. The taxi drivers do not accept card payments, so you should bring local money!

Cancun Airport to Valladolid by Train
The fastest way to get to Valladolid is by train. Travel time is just 1.5 hours. The tourist class train ticket costs 472 MXN (23 USD) for foreigners and 236 MXN (11,50 USD) for local tourists.
The train station (Estación Tren Maya-Cancún) is located near Cancun Airport and can be reached in about 5-10 minutes by shuttle.
