Where is Inland Sea Gozo?
The Inland Sea, also known as Dwejra, is a unique lagoon of seawater located on the island of Gozo, Malta.
How to Get to Inland Sea Gozo
The most convenient way to get there is to rent a car and explore the nearby attractions at your own pace. There is a large public parking lot where you can park for free.
Uber and Bolt are affordable on the island and can save you time if you don’t want to take the bus.
By Bus
Take the bus No. 311 from Victoria Bay 1 stop to Dwejra. Buses run every hour from 07:20 to 22:05, and the journey time is approximately 20 minutes. Once you get off the bus, you only need to walk 5 minutes to the Dwejra Inland Sea Gozo.
The bus ticket costs 2.50 EUR in summer, 2 EUR in winter, and the night fare is 3 EUR. You can purchase your ticket from the bus driver. Tickets are valid for two hours, including transfers.
Save money and buy a Tallinja Card. The Explore Card costs 25 EUR for adults and 7 EUR for children (4-10 years old). It is valid for 7 days from the first validation and gives you unlimited travel.
TIP
You can buy your Tallinja Card at the airport’s ticket machines.
The Gozo Hop-On Hop-Off bus also stops in Dwejra.
Malta to Gozo Tour
If you are in Malta and have limited time, you can explore the sights of Gozo on a one-day jeep tour. You can visit charming little towns, enjoy stunning bays, and see salt pans and different rock formations.
Dwejra Inland Sea Gozo
When we arrived at the parking lot, we first explored the area and walked along the rock formations. Then we visited Malta’s famous Azure Window (unfortunately, the natural rock arch collapsed into the sea after a violent storm), so we could only enjoy the view of the Blue Hole from above.
We walked past a small chapel, and within a few minutes, we reached the viewpoint from which we could enjoy the view of the Inland Sea.
There are toilets near the parking lot, and they were quite clean during our visit.
You can go down to the Dwejra Inland Sea, where you can swim, dive, or take a boat trip. Unfortunately, there were no boat tours when we were there due to the sea conditions, but we still enjoyed exploring the area. Since we couldn’t take a boat trip, we visited the Dwejra Tower, which also had a great view of the bay and Fungus Rock.
Inland Sea Gozo Diving
You can dive around the Inland Sea or in the Blue Hole. You can reach the stunning Blue Hole through the tunnel along the reef walls, which is a great experience.
The maximum depth in the Inland Sea is 2 meters and reaches 26 meters at the seaward end.
We recommend coming early as this is a popular spot for diving.

You can join an exciting boat trip to the open sea and see the nearby caves. The boats take you from the Inland Sea through an 80-meter-long tunnel, offering stunning views of the rock formations.
The tour lasts about 15 minutes and costs 5 euros per person.
Good to know
Boat trips in Malta are frequently canceled due to rough sea conditions such as strong winds or high waves.
