Where is Broken Beach?
Pasih Uug Beach, also known as Broken Beach, is located on the west coast of Nusa Penida Island in Indonesia, near Angel’s Billabong.
How to Get to Broken Beach
To get to the beach, you first need to get to Nusa Penida Island in Indonesia. Unfortunately, there is no airport in Nusa Penida. The nearest airport is in Bali, the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (airport code DPS).

You can easily get to Nusa Penida by fast boat or public ferry from Bali, Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Ceningan, the Gili Islands, and Lombok. Boat tickets can be easily bought at the port, but we recommend booking online.
When you arrive in Nusa Penida Harbour, you must pay the island entrance fee (tourist retribution fee), which costs 25,000 IDR for adults and 15,000 IDR for children.
Bali to Broken Beach, Nusa Penida
Ferries run regularly between Sanur Harbour and Nusa Penida. Sanur Port is ideal for those staying in Kuta, Seminyak, or Canggu. Speedboat tickets cost around 9-10 USD one way, and travel time is approximately 30-50 minutes.

Once you arrive at Nusa Penida port, rent a scooter or hire a private driver. The beach is about a 1-hour drive from the harbor.

Best Time to Visit Nusa Penida
Indonesia has two seasons: a dry season and a rainy season. The best time to visit Nusa Penida is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. The weather is sunny and dry during these months, perfect for boat tours, swimming, snorkeling, and exploring the island.
The rainy season runs from November to April.
Nusa Penida Island has a tropical climate with high humidity, and the average temperature is 27°C all year round. In high season, we strongly recommend booking accommodation, ferry tickets, and tours in advance!

Broken Beach
Broken Beach is a natural rock formation that creates a circular cove that allows the waves to flow in and out of the ocean through a spectacular archway.
The beach is free to visit, and the parking fee is only 5,000 IDR.
Unfortunately, you cannot swim at Broken Beach, as there is no way to access the beach, but the stunning views make it worth a visit.
Once you arrive, you can admire the incredible views and take beautiful photos of the cove, the archway, and the ocean. Then, walk along the natural bridge and see the beach from different angles.
The water is so crystal clear that you can even see manta rays from above. Have an unforgettable experience and swim with manta rays.
There are many warungs and small stalls where you can buy refreshing drinks and snacks.

You can easily combine your visit with the famous Kelingking Beach and Crystal Bay, which are also located on the west side of the island.
Angel’s Billabong
Angel’s Billabong is a natural infinity pool surrounded by rugged rock formations. The vibrant shades of water, especially at low tide, are stunning. Leaving the parking lot, you’ll first arrive at the impressive Angel’s Billabong, and then a further 5-minute walk will take you to Broken Beach.
There is no entrance fee.
Previously, you could go into the natural pool for a refreshing dip. But since there have been many accidents and some deaths, swimming is now prohibited at Angel’s Billabong. Big ocean waves can crash into the rocks, making the pool dangerous.
