Casablanca to Rabat by Car

You can easily rent a car at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (airport code CMN) or in the city. The car rental costs will be different when you travel to Morocco in high season or low season and rent a car in advance or at the last minute.

But you will spend around 15-20 USD daily for a standard car with full coverage. Book your car in advance to get the best price! Check car rental prices and availability.

The two cities are connected by the well-maintained A1 highway. The drive time is usually 1 hour, depending on traffic. There are often police checkpoints on the road, so always wear your seatbelt and obey the speed limit!

Rabat by Minivan

One of the best and most popular ways to get to Rabat is by air-conditioned minivan. The journey time takes 1 hour, depending on traffic and number of passengers. A shuttle minivan to Rabat (any hotel) starts from 26 USD.

Casablanca to Rabat Day Trip

Casablanca to Rabat by taxi

Casablanca to Rabat by Train

The best way to get to Rabat is by train. ONCF trains run several times a day between the two cities. You can check the current timetable on the ONCF Voyages website. The train journey to Rabat Ville station takes 1 hour and 5 minutes.

Casablanca has two main train stations, the Casa Port and Casa Voyageurs. You can buy your train ticket at the station, but avoid the queue and buy it online. We recommend you arrive at the train station at least 30 minutes before departure.

The train tickets start from 40 MAD (4 USD), depending on the type of train.

We arrived in Rabat by train from Casa Port, then took the tram to Hassan Tower. A tram ticket costs 6 MAD (6 USD) for a single trip.

Casablanca to Rabat by Bus

The cheapest way to reach Rabat is by public bus. Buses run all day between the two cities. In Morocco, we have always traveled by CTM bus because it is affordable, comfortable, and safe.

The nearest tram stop to the Casablanca CTM bus terminal is Marché Central, just a 5-minute walk from the bus station. A tram ticket costs 8 MAD (8 USD) for a single trip and 14 MAD (14 USD) for two rides.

We recommend you arrive at the bus station at least 30 minutes before departure. The travel time is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, depending on traffic. The cheapest bus tickets start from 3 USD.

When you arrive at the CTM bus station in Rabat, take a taxi to the Medina.
