As Ha Giang is known for its bustling markets, ask your accommodation where you can find the current market. The local markets are a great place to meet ethnic minorities, learn more about Vietnamese culture, and eat delicious food.

The weather was very foggy and cold during our visit. But we still had incredible views of the beautiful unspoiled landscapes, mountain passes, rice terraces, and winding roads.

Ha Giang or Sapa?

One of the most frequently asked questions is which should I visit: Sapa or Ha Giang?

Sapa and Ha Giang are located in the north of Vietnam and have similar natural features. But we think Ha Giang is more worth a visit because it is less crowded than Sapa.

Ha Giang is well known for its epic motorbike tour, bustling markets, and ethnic minorities. Sapa is famous for its beautiful hiking trails, waterfalls, and rice terraces.

  1. Hy guys,
Such a beautiful experience should have been… I’m currently in Ninh Binh and i would like to try the same Route but currently i don’t book anything yet. Could you give some advice on how to split the 3 days, i mean, which are the 2/3 stops that you did it and also did you have to handle with the police because in the last period lots of people told me that is better to book an easy rider because if you don’t have the international driver license it’s very unsafe with the police also due to the common accident that happend frequently. Any advice could be gold for me.. Thank you very much, i wish you the best 🙏🏻

    1. Hi Marco!

We strongly recommend you get an international driving permit! We have never been checked by the police in Vietnam. But as international driving licences are accepted in all countries and are usually affordable, it is worth getting one.

We spent one night in Yen Minh, then another in Meo Vac, and the last night in Du Gia Village.

Motorbike accidents are unfortunately common as the roads are slippery! Take care and enjoy your trip!

      Best Regards,
      Dittus and Mate
