The Ultimate Guide to Visiting Leke Leke Waterfall, Bali

Leke Leke Waterfall is a must-see in Indonesia, so you can’t miss it on your Bali Itinerary. It is a fantastic scenery as a narrow stream of water cascades down into a small, shallow pool surrounded by lush jungle vegetation. The waterfall is about 30 meters high.

Where is Leke Leke Waterfall?

Leke Leke Waterfall, also known as Air Terjun Leke Leke, is located in Tabanan Regency, North Bali, Indonesia, approximately 30 km from Ubud.

Best Time to Visit Ubud, Bali

Indonesia has two seasons: a dry season and a rainy season. Bali is a popular destination all year round! But the best time to visit Bali is during the dry season, from April to October. The weather is sunny and dry during these months, perfect for swimming, hiking, and exploring the best attractions. In high season, we strongly recommend booking accommodation, ferry tickets, and tours in advance!

Bali has a tropical climate, with hot and humid weather, and the average temperature is around 27°C all year round. The rainy season runs from November to March. We visited Air Terjun Leke Leke in mid-May and had fantastic weather.

How to Get to Leke Leke Waterfall

To get to the waterfall, you first need to get to Bali Island in Indonesia. The waterfall is not accessible by public transport. It is about a 1-hour drive from Ubud and 1.5 hours from Canggu.

You can rent a private car with a driver or join a guided tour that includes transport. Alternatively, you can easily get to the waterfall by scooter. Once you arrive, buy your entrance ticket and visit the waterfall. Parking is free.

We rented a scooter and explored Ubud at our own pace. Scooter rental starts from 80,000 IDR (5 USD) per day. If you rent a scooter for several days, ask for a discount. Traffic in Bali is chaotic, so always wear a helmet and don’t drive at night!

Leke Leke Waterfall Tours

The best and most comfortable way to visit the waterfall is to join an organized group or private tour, which includes transport and other great attractions.

The road to get there is scenic, and the reward is a breathtaking waterfall amidst lush vegetation. It’s an unforgettable escape from the hustle and bustle of Ubud, and we highly recommend this place for nature lovers and photographers.

How to Visit Leke Leke Waterfall

The waterfall was a fascinating hidden gem in Bali. Nowadays, it is becoming increasingly popular with tourists.

Since we were staying at Mathis Retreat Ubud, we drove by scooter to Leke Leke Waterfall, which took only 1 hour. Once we arrived, we parked for free in front of the entrance. At 7 AM, the ticket office was still closed.

The hike down is an easy to moderate challenge, but you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. You can get to the waterfall from the entrance gate in about 10-15 minutes. There are about 300 steps on the trail, and you have to cross a small bamboo bridge in the jungle to reach the waterfall.

The trail to the waterfall is spectacular and well-maintained, and there is no chance of getting lost. For us, this walk was easy.

On the way to the waterfall, there’s a Bali swing that you can use for 200,000 IDR (13 USD), but we think it’s a bit overpriced. Don’t wear slippers as some parts of the trail can be muddy from humidity or after rain, and you can easily slip.

Leke Leke Waterfall

You can swim at the waterfall. But the water is cold, and the pool is too small and shallow for swimming. Since there is not much to do here, most people take a quick photo and continue exploring Bali’s attractions.

It’s become a favorite spot for photographers in recent years, so you’ll probably have to wait for the perfect shot.

Although there is a small bamboo changing room. We recommend you arrive in a swimsuit and wear it under your clothes.

After your visit, take a break at the warung (restaurant) near the entrance and have a refreshing drink or a meal. Food costs around 30,000-50,000 IDR (2-3 USD). The entrance ticket provides a 10% discount in the warung. The restaurant also has toilets.

Since we arrived early in the morning, we only had to share the waterfall with two other tourists and had a wonderful experience. We think this is one of the best waterfalls in Indonesia that you shouldn’t miss.

Leke Leke Waterfall Entrance Fee & Opening Hours

The entrance fee to the waterfall is 50,000 IDR (3 USD) per person. You can only pay the entrance fee in cash.

The official opening hours are from 7 AM to 5 PM, but technically, the waterfall is open 24 hours a day. As the ticket office is only open from 8 AM, pay the entrance fee when you return from the waterfall.

Tips for Visiting

• It’s a popular place, so arrive early.
• Allow enough time to visit the waterfall, as you may have to wait to take photos/videos.
• Bring plenty of water and snacks.
• Wear a brightly colored swimsuit or dress for the perfect Instagram photo.
• As unexpected rain can happen at any time, bring a light raincoat.
• Wear hiking sandals and lightweight, quick-dry clothes, as the weather is always warm and humid.
• Bring water shoes and be careful, as the rocks can be slippery!
• Use a polarized lens to protect your camera and get better-quality photos.
• After the waterfall, visit Ulun Danu Beratan Temple and Handara Gate, just a 30-minute drive away.
