Where is Selong Belanak Beach?
The beach is located in the south of Lombok Island, Indonesia, just a 40-minute drive from Kuta.
How to Get to Selong Belanak Beach
The best way to get to the beach is to rent a scooter or hire a private driver. We rented a motorbike and explored the nearby beaches at our own pace. The beach is easily accessible, as there is a well-maintained paved road from Kuta Lombok.
Scooter rental starts from 65,000 IDR (4 USD) per day, but we don’t recommend paying more than 85,000 IDR (5 USD). If you rent a scooter for several days, ask for a discount!
There is a large parking lot, and the parking fee is only 10,000 IDR (0,60 USD). We heard from other tourists that if you park outside the parking lot, they may damage your motorbike. Therefore, do not leave anything valuable in your scooter and park in the designated area.

Best Time to Visit Lombok
Indonesia has two seasons: a dry season and a rainy season. Lombok is a popular destination all year round. However, the best time to visit Lombok is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. The weather is sunny and dry during these months, perfect for swimming, hiking, and exploring Lombok’s attractions.
Lombok Island has a tropical climate with high humidity, and the average temperature is 28°C all year round. The rainy season runs from November to April.
The busiest time to visit Lombok is between July and August. In high season, we strongly recommend booking accommodation, ferry tickets, and tours in advance!
Selong Belanak Beach
Selong Belanak’s beautiful long white sandy beach with lush green hills and passing water buffalos offers fantastic photo opportunities. When a herd of buffalo walks along the beach, you can walk with them for a small fee and take gorgeous pictures.
Pantai Selong Belanak is free to visit. There are many warungs and small food stalls where you can buy refreshing drinks and snacks. Try fresh grilled fish, corn, and local dishes.
When we arrived, we found the beach very crowded. But after walking a little further, we enjoyed the calm atmosphere and the stunning scenery.
You can rent sunbeds with umbrellas for between 50,000 IDR and 100,000 IDR. Petty theft often happens on this beach, so keep an eye on your valuables while swimming.
During our visit, the beach was clean and there was no litter.

Selong Belanak Beach Surf
This beach is ideal for swimming, but as the waves are not so high and strong, it is perfect for beginner surfers.
You can rent a surfboard at the beach for 50,000 IDR or take a surfing lesson for 150,000 IDR for 1 hour or 250,000 IDR for 2 hours. There are several surf schools, and prices vary. If as many of you as possible want to take surfing lessons, try to negotiate the price.
