Where to Stay in Lombok
1. Kuta, Lombok – Best Surfing Area
Where to stay in Lombok for surfers? Kuta, Lombok is a popular beach destination with beautiful, untouched sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and many surf spots. Most beaches are free to visit, so another good reason to add it to your bucket list.
Pantai Kuta is the most popular beach on the island! But in our opinion, it’s very overrated, and there are much better beaches in Kuta. Although it’s still worth a short visit. If you have limited time in Kuta, there are two beaches you should not miss: Mawun Beach and Tanjung Aan Beach. Trust us, you will not be disappointed by their beauty.

Are you a surf lover? Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced surfer, Indonesia offers the perfect beaches for enjoying the waves or taking surf lessons. The best places to go surfing in Kuta are Pantai Tanjung Aan, Selong Belanak Beach, and Pantai Mawi. We recommend renting a scooter to help you explore the beaches and surf spots around Kuta.
This is one of the best areas to stay in Lombok if you love surfing.

2. Where to Stay in Lombok – Senggigi
Where to stay in Lombok if you are visiting for the first time and want to visit the Gili Islands? After Kuta, Senggigi is the most visited tourist spot on the Island. In fact, Senggigi was one of our favorite places, but there is not much to do, so it is the perfect place to relax.
Senggigi, northwest of the town of Mataram, is 1 hour from the airport, but you can also get there by ferry easily if you’re in Bali. This seaside town can be noisier at night, we would not recommend staying in the town. Instead, go much further north, where you will find quieter, more peaceful beachfront hotels.
We stayed at the Holiday Resort, nestled in lush tropical gardens and overlooking the sparkling ocean, and absolutely loved our stay. If you’re looking for more beachfront hotels, we’ve put together a list of the best places to stay.
