Tanjung Aan Beach: The Most Beautiful Beach in Lombok
Tanjung Aan Beach is Lombok’s most beautiful beach and one of our favorites. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we visited it twice while we were in Kuta. The coast is about 2 km long, with crystal clear waters and pristine white sand. You can easily spend a relaxing day swimming, surfing, and lounging on sun loungers. Then, finish your day at the nearby Bukit Merese Hill while enjoying a stunning sunset.

Where is Tanjung Aan Beach?
It is located on the south coast of Lombok Island, Indonesia, about a 15-minute scooter ride from Kuta, near Bukit Merese Hill.
How to Get to Tanjung Aan Beach
The best way to get to the beach is to rent a scooter or hire a private driver. We rented a motorbike and explored the nearby beaches at our own pace.
Scooter rental starts from 65,000 IDR (4 USD) per day, but we don’t recommend paying more than 85,000 IDR (5 USD). If you rent a scooter for several days, ask for a discount!
There was no entrance fee during our visit and parking was free. If you have to pay for parking, don’t pay more than 10,000 IDR.

Best Time to Visit Lombok
Indonesia has two seasons: a dry season and a rainy season. Lombok is a popular destination all year round. However, the best time to visit Lombok is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. The weather is sunny and dry during these months, perfect for swimming, hiking, and exploring Lombok’s attractions.
Lombok Island has a tropical climate with high humidity, and the average temperature is 28°C all year round. The rainy season runs from November to April.
The busiest time to visit Lombok is between July and August. In high season, we strongly recommend booking accommodation, ferry tickets, and tours in advance!
Tanjung Aan Beach
Tanjung Aan Beach is a long, white sandy beach in Lombok, which is also perfect for surfing. There are many warungs where you can try local food or buy a coconut on the beach. Some warungs offer free sun loungers if you eat there.
We recommend having lunch at Warung Turtle Resto Cafe, where you can have delicious local food and cold beer while enjoying the view.

There are no big waves, so Pantai Tanjung Aan is a good choice for beginner surfers.
Many people say that the beach is very littered, and there is a lot of sargassum (seaweed), and we have seen pictures of it. But when we visited in May, the beach was crystal clear. We think that the sea washes ashore rubbish or sargassum in different months. We were lucky that the beach was clean when we were there, so we could enjoy chilling out.
Be careful! Unfortunately, there are many stray dogs in the area and they often come quite close.

Bukit Merese Hill
Don’t miss the nearby Bukit Merese Hill, which offers fantastic views of the ocean and the surrounding green hills, especially at sunset. We recommend arriving before 5 PM to catch the beautiful sunset.
The entrance fee to Bukit Merese Hill is 10,000 IDR (0,60 USD) per person, and parking is free.

Where to Stay near Tanjung Aan Beach
If you are traveling with family or a group of friends, we recommend staying at Villa Sorgas or Villa Utamaro, which are located in a quiet and secluded location with sea views. But Kuta is the perfect base for exploring the beach. These are our accommodation recommendations.
