Where is Gitgit Waterfall? (Exact Location)
Air Terjun Gitgit, also known as Gitgit Waterfall, is located in North Bali, Indonesia. It is about a 2-hour drive from Ubud, 45 minutes from Munduk, and 30 minutes from Singaraja.
There are actually two Gitgit Falls, and many people confuse them because they are close to each other. You can find the exact location HERE.

This post is about Gitgit Waterfall, not Gitgit Twin Waterfall.
When is the Best Time to Visit Gitgit Waterfall, Bali?
Indonesia has two seasons: a dry season and a rainy season. The best time to visit Bali is during the dry season, which runs from April to October. The weather is sunny and dry during these months, perfect for swimming, hiking, and exploring the best attractions.
Bali has a tropical climate, with hot and humid weather, and the average temperature is around 27°C all year round. The rainy season runs from November to March.
During the rainy season or after heavy rains, the waterfall is a magnificent sight as it is powerful and intense. Before visiting this area, check the weather forecast, as the weather in the highlands of North Bali is often unpredictable.
Although there were only two local workers at the waterfall during our visit, we recommend arriving early to avoid the crowds and take great photos.
How to Get to Gitgit Waterfall
The best way to visit the waterfall is to rent a scooter or hire a private driver. Alternatively, you can join an organized shared or private tour that includes transportation.
Rent a private car with a driver to easily explore Bali’s attractions through Viator or GetYourGuide.
We rented a scooter and explored Ubud and Munduk at our own pace. Scooter rental starts from 80,000 IDR (5 USD) per day. If you rent a scooter for several days, ask for a discount. Traffic in Bali is chaotic, so always wear a helmet and don’t drive at night!
Most people come here after visiting the Ulun Danu Beratan Temple (Lake Beratan) or the Handara Gate.
There is a large parking lot next to the main road where you can leave your motorbike or car. Parking usually costs 2,000 IDR for motorbikes and 5,000 IDR for cars, but during our visit, it was free.
Gitgit Waterfall Opening Hours
The official opening hours are from 8 AM to 5:30 PM, but technically, the waterfall is open 24 hours a day.
Gitgit Waterfall Entrance Fee
The entrance fee to Gitgit Waterfall is 45,000 IDR (about 3 USD) for foreigners and 15,000 IDR for locals.
TIP
Bring enough local money with you, as you can only pay the entrance fee in cash.
In fact, when we visited the waterfall, there was no one at the official ticket office either on the way down or back, so we didn’t even have to pay an entrance fee.

Gitgit Waterfall Trek
The stunning Gitgit Waterfall, which is approximately 35 meters high, is surrounded by lush jungle and can be reached by an easy, short trek. Once you arrive, you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and take fantastic photos.
This is one of the most accessible waterfalls in Bali, as there is a well-maintained paved path leading down with concrete steps, making it ideal for families. So if you are staying in North Bali or have enough time, you should definitely visit it.
In the parking lot, many locals will try to sell you overpriced tickets or force you to take a guided tour. A local guide is not required, as you can visit the waterfall on your own.
From the parking lot, cross the main road and walk down the small path. You will reach the waterfall in about 15-20 minutes. Along the way, you will pass the official ticket office, where you can buy your entrance ticket. If you arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon, the ticket office may be empty, and you can visit the waterfall for free.
There are a few stalls along the way where you can buy souvenirs.

Air Terjun Gitgit Waterfall Bali
If you want to take a good photo, go close to the waterfall and stand on a rock or take a photo with the Balinese Gate in the background.
The humidity in this place is high, and the water spray from the waterfall will immediately wet your camera lens. Therefore, protect your lens with a polarized filter and use a special lens cleaner to dry the lens.
Although this place offers beautiful photo opportunities, and you can take a quick refreshing dip in the small pool, it is not worth spending much time here. After taking enough pictures, we continued exploring the nearby waterfalls.
If you have limited time, we recommend visiting other waterfalls in the area instead of GitGit, which are much more impressive, such as Sekumpul Waterfall or Munduk Waterfalls.

Most people take a day trip from Ubud to Gitgit Waterfall, but for the best experience, stay in Munduk and explore the stunning waterfalls nearby.
