We visited many beautiful waterfalls in Munduk, but our favorite was Labuhan Kebo Waterfall. Whether you are looking for a peaceful retreat, an adventurous hike, or a stunning photo backdrop, this place is a must-visit. We really enjoyed the tranquillity and relaxing atmosphere in nature.

Where is Labuhan Kebo Waterfall?

The waterfall is located in North Bali, Indonesia, just a 20-minute scooter ride from Munduk, near the village of Gobleg.

When is the Best Time to Visit Labuhan Kebo Waterfall, Bali?

Indonesia has two seasons: a dry season and a rainy season. The best time to visit Bali is during the dry season, which runs from April to October. The weather is sunny and dry during these months, perfect for swimming, hiking, and exploring the best attractions.

Bali has a tropical climate, with hot and humid weather, and the average temperature is around 27°C all year round. The rainy season runs from November to March.

During the rainy season or after heavy rains, the waterfall is a magnificent sight as it is powerful and intense. Before visiting the Munduk area, check the weather forecast, as the weather in the highlands of North Bali is often unpredictable.

We visited this fairytale waterfall in mid-May and had fantastic weather. As this is not a popular place, you don’t need to arrive early to avoid the crowds. However, if you’re a photography lover, we recommend planning your visit for the early morning hours when the sun’s rays are not yet too strong.

How to Get to Labuhan Kebo Waterfall

Labuhan Kebo Waterfall is part of the Munduk Four Waterfalls Trek. If you are coming from Gobleg, you will first reach Melanting Waterfall, and from there, you can hike to Labuhan Kebo Waterfall.

We rented a scooter and explored Ubud and Munduk at our own pace. Scooter rental starts from 80,000 IDR (5 USD) per day. If you rent a scooter for several days, ask for a discount. Traffic in Bali is chaotic, so always wear a helmet and don’t drive at night!

There is a small parking lot next to the main road where you can leave your motorbike or car. The parking fee during our visit was 2,000 IDR for a motorbike.

From the parking lot, you can easily walk first to the Red Coral Waterfall and then continue to the Labuhan Kebo Waterfall in about 20 minutes.

Labuhan Kebo Waterfall Opening Hours

The official opening hours are from 7 AM to 6 PM, but technically, the waterfall is open 24 hours a day.

Labuhan Kebo Waterfall Entrance Fee

The entrance fee to Labuhan Kebo Waterfall is 20,000 IDR (1,20 USD) for adults and 10,000 IDR (0,60 USD) for children.

TIP
Bring enough local money with you, as you can only pay the entrance fee in cash.

Labuhan Kebo Waterfall Trek

Since this is a very beautiful, powerful waterfall, and few people know about it, it is definitely worth visiting if you are in Munduk. The waterfall is easily accessible, just a 15-minute trek from the official ticket office.

After about 150 meters of descent, you will have to walk along the river. Be careful, as the concrete steps are steep and can be slippery in rainy weather.

Once you have descended, you will walk across some bamboo bridges to reach the waterfall. The bamboo bridges offer great photo opportunities where you can take epic pictures.

The energy of the waterfall is enormous, sending spray several meters away. Therefore, protect your camera lens with a polarized filter and dry the lens with a special lens cleaner. We used our phones to take pictures and videos, as we didn’t want anything to happen to our camera.

We met a couple at the waterfall who said they saw a snake on the trail, so be careful. Once you have spent enough time here, continue hiking to the impressive Melanting Waterfall.

TIP
Wear closed hiking shoes and lightweight, quick-dry clothes, as the weather is always warm and humid.
