One of the best things to do in Bali is to explore the stunning waterfalls. The island is home to many beautiful waterfalls, so you can easily visit the most popular ones and explore some of the lesser-known ones. Each waterfall is unique and offers fantastic photo opportunities. Most waterfalls are easily accessible, while some require an exciting hike through the lush tropical jungle.

We’ve put together a list of the most beautiful waterfalls in North Bali and the Ubud area. Use the map at the bottom of this post to find the best waterfalls in Bali.

Best Waterfalls in Bali

1. Labuhan Kebo Waterfall

We visited many beautiful waterfalls in Bali, but our favorite was Labuhan Kebo Waterfall. Whether you are looking for a peaceful retreat, an adventurous hike, or a stunning photo backdrop, this place is a must-visit.

The waterfall is easily accessible, just a 15-minute trek from the official ticket office. After about 150 meters of descent, you will have to walk along the river. Once you have descended, you will walk across some bamboo bridges to reach the waterfall.

2. Leke Leke Waterfall

Air Terjun Leke Leke is located in Tabanan Regency, North Bali, approximately 30 km from Ubud. It is a fantastic scenery as a narrow stream of water cascades down into a small, shallow pool surrounded by lush jungle vegetation.

You can get to the waterfall from the entrance gate in about 10-15 minutes. There are about 300 steps on the trail, and you have to cross a small bamboo bridge in the jungle to reach the waterfall. It’s become a favorite spot for photographers in recent years, so you’ll probably have to wait for the perfect shot.

3. Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall

Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall is about a 2-hour drive from Ubud and 30 minutes from Munduk. This waterfall is still a hidden gem in Bali, where you can visit four different waterfalls for the price of one. We were lucky because we had these waterfalls all to ourselves.

At the entrance, you can pay for a motorbike taxi, and they will take you to the falls, and you don’t have to trek. But we don’t think it’s worth the price, as the waterfalls aren’t far away, and it was a fantastic experience to walk in the peaceful forest.

4. Sekumpul Waterfall

Sekumpul Waterfall is located about 30 km from Munduk and 70 km from Ubud. This is the tallest waterfall in Bali, about 80 meters high, and offers breathtaking scenery. You can easily combine your visit with Hidden Waterfall and Fiji Waterfall.

There are three ways to visit the waterfall, it only depends on your time and budget. Most people only visit the viewing platform and do not hike to the waterfall. But if you like epic places and hiking in nature, we strongly recommend you choose the long hike, which gives you access to all the waterfalls.

5. Kanto Lampo Waterfall

If you’re looking for one of the best waterfalls in Bali, visit Air Terjun Kanto Lampo. This is a unique waterfall with water cascading down a stepped rock formation. Kanto Lampo Waterfall is located just a 30-minute drive from Ubud. A concrete staircase leads to the waterfall, about a 5-10 minute walk from the parking lot.

As this is a very popular waterfall among influencers, be prepared for a long wait or arrive as early as possible. Some Balinese guys at the waterfall will take great photos of you and even show you how to pose in front of the waterfall. Don’t forget to tip them for their help.

6. Banyumala Twin Waterfalls Bali

Banyumala Waterfall is undoubtedly one of the best waterfalls we have ever visited in Bali. The natural pool is surrounded by large rocks and lush green vegetation, making it the perfect place to take some unforgettable photos.

Munduk is the best base for visiting the waterfall. But you can also take a day trip from Ubud, Canggu, or Seminyak. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the twin waterfalls from the ticket office. The water is not so deep, so you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the clean pool after the trek.

7. Tukad Cepung Waterfall

In our opinion, this is one of the best and most unique waterfalls in Bali. The stunning combination of cave and waterfall makes for a fantastic sight. You can enjoy the most beautiful sight when the light beam illuminates the cave. The waterfall is located about a 1-hour drive from the center of Ubud.

You can reach the waterfall from the parking lot in about 15 minutes. Be careful, as the path and steps can be slippery, especially after rain. Bring water shoes or go barefoot because you will have to walk through the water to get closer to the waterfall.

Since this is a truly photogenic place if you want to avoid the crowds, arrive early or be prepared to wait in line.

8. Gitgit Waterfall

Air Terjun Gitgit, also known as Gitgit Waterfall, has become a famous Instagram spot over the years. It is about a 2-hour drive from Ubud and 45 minutes from Munduk.

This is one of the most accessible waterfalls in Bali, as there is a well-maintained paved path leading down with concrete steps, making it ideal for families. Once you arrive, you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and take fantastic photos.

9. Tibumana Waterfall

This is a less crowded waterfall in Bali, just a 35-minute drive from Ubud. The waterfall is an easy 10-minute walk from the car park and is accessible to all ages. You will cross some bamboo bridges and pass by small waterfalls.

Since most people take pictures from the edge, we recommend going a little further into the water to get the perfect shot. There are changing rooms, toilets, and free lockers where you can leave your belongings while swimming or taking photos. Tibumana Waterfall is perfect for a refreshing swim, but signs warn against going directly under the falls.

On the way back, there are some great cafes near the parking lot where you can have a refreshing drink while enjoying the view of the picturesque rice fields.

10. Tegenungan Waterfall

Tegenungan Waterfall, also known as Air Terjun Blangsinga, is about a 25-minute drive from Ubud. The viewing platforms offer great views of the waterfall. You can descend to the bottom of the waterfall via approximately 200 steps. Alternatively, if you buy a drink or have a meal at the Omma Dayclub, you can use the lift to get down to the waterfall and skip the climb back up.

We recommend having lunch at Bumbu Asli International Warung or Omma Dayclub, which offers the best views.

How to Get to Bali’s Waterfalls

The best way to visit the waterfalls is to rent a scooter or hire a private driver. Alternatively, you can join an organized shared or private tour that includes transportation.

We rented a scooter and explored the waterfalls at our own pace. Scooter rental starts from 80,000 IDR (5 USD) per day. If you rent a scooter for several days, ask for a discount. Traffic in Bali is chaotic, so always wear a helmet and don’t drive at night!

Good to know
Parking fees are usually 10,000 IDR for cars and 2,000-5,000 IDR for motorbikes.

Best Time to Visit Bali Waterfalls

Indonesia has two seasons: a dry season and a rainy season. The best time to visit Bali is during the dry season, which runs from April to October. The weather is sunny and dry during these months, perfect for chasing waterfalls, hiking, and exploring the best attractions.

Bali has a tropical climate, with hot and humid weather, and the average temperature is around 27°C all year round. The rainy season runs from November to March.

During the rainy season or after heavy rains, the waterfalls are powerful and intense, providing a stunning sight for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. However, access to the falls can be more difficult during the rainy season when the trail is too muddy and slippery.

Before you visit the Munduk area, check the weather forecast, as the weather in the highlands of North Bali is often unpredictable. We visited the waterfalls in mid-May and enjoyed the fantastic scenery.

Tips for Visiting

• If you want to avoid the crowds and take great photos, we recommend you arrive as early as possible.
• Bring enough local money with you, as entrance fees can only be paid in cash.
• Discounted tickets are usually available for children.
• Wear hiking shoes or sandals and lightweight, quick-dry clothes, as the weather is always warm and humid.
• Be careful, and don’t underestimate the strong current of the waterfall.
• As unexpected rain can happen at any time, bring a light raincoat.
• Use a polarized lens to protect your camera and get better-quality photos.
• Allow enough time to visit the waterfalls, as muddy and slippery paths can make the hike take longer.
• Bring water shoes and be careful, as the rocks can be slippery!
• Take plenty of water and snacks.
• There are toilets and changing rooms near the waterfalls.
• Along the trail, you will find some warungs (local restaurants) and a few stalls where you can buy refreshments and snacks.
