Where is Senggigi?
Senggigi is a coastal town located on the west coast of Lombok Island, Indonesia, about a 1.5-hour drive from Kuta.
Best Time to Visit Senggigi, Lombok
Indonesia has two seasons: a dry season and a rainy season. Lombok is a popular destination all year round! However, the best time to visit Senggigi is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. The weather is sunny and dry during these months, perfect for swimming, hiking, and exploring Lombok Island. August is the driest month.
Senggigi has a tropical climate with high humidity and an average annual temperature of 25°C.
It’s good to know that during the rainy season (from November to April) or when the sea conditions are bad, the boat schedules can change and be delayed a lot, so plan your trip to Lombok!
The busiest time to visit Lombok is between July and August. In high season, we strongly recommend booking accommodation and tours in advance!
How to Get to Senggigi, Lombok
You can easily get to Lombok by public ferry, fast boat, and plane. Most people come to Senggigi from the Gili Islands.
Unfortunately, there is no airport in Senggigi. The nearest airport is in Lombok, the Lombok International Airport (airport code LOP). The distance between the airport and Senggigi is about 50 km, and the travel time is approximately 1-1.5 hours, depending on traffic.
From Bali, you can fly to Lombok from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (airport code DPS) and then take a taxi, Damri bus, or private transfer to Senggigi.
The flight takes just 45 minutes, and plane tickets start from 65 USD (without luggage) per person for one way.

From Bali to Senggigi by ferry
Ekajaya Fast Ferry offers ferries from Bali Padang Bai Pier (PB) to Senggigi Pier (SGG) twice daily at 8 AM and 12:30 PM. It takes approximately 1.5-2.5 hours to arrive at Senggigi Harbor.
The ferry ticket costs 550,000 IDR (33,30 USD) per person for one way.

From the Gili Islands to Senggigi
Boats regularly depart from the Gili Islands to Senggigi, Lombok. The journey takes approximately 30-45 minutes from Gili Trawangan to Bangsal Harbor, and boat tickets start from 10 USD per person.
Senggigi is just a 35-minute drive from Bangsal Harbor.
We arrived in Senggigi by boat from Gili Air, and the journey took 20 minutes to Bangsal Port. The boat ticket was 6 USD per person, which included hotel drop-off in Senggigi.
Good to know
The boats don’t usually leave at the exact departure time, as they leave when they are full, so you should arrive at least 30 minutes before departure!

1. Motorbike Around the Senggigi Coastline
One of the best things to do in Senggigi is to rent a scooter and discover the coastline and beaches on your own. This is the best way to find hidden gems, the best restaurants, or meet the locals.
Don’t miss the beautiful view at the Senggigi View sign, just a 5-minute drive from Senggigi Beach.
Good to know
We started our Lombok Island Itinerary in Senggigi, so we rented a motorbike there. As we rented a motorbike for several days, the discounted rate was 60,000 IDR (4 USD) per day.
2. Discover the Best Beaches in Senggigi, Lombok
Senggigi is a popular beach destination with beautiful white sandy beaches, palm trees, crystal clear turquoise waters, and many beach resorts. Therefore, one of the best things to do in Senggigi is to visit the stunning beaches. All beaches are free to visit, so this is another good reason to add Lombok to your bucket list.
If you have limited time in Senggigi, there are two beaches you shouldn’t miss: Pantai Nipah and Pantai Pandanan. Trust us, you will not be disappointed by their beauty.
Nipah Beach: If you’re looking for a secluded and peaceful beach away from the crowds, head to Nipah. This beach has a long coastline, making it ideal for a romantic walk or taking gorgeous photos.
Pandanan Beach: This is a beautiful white sandy beach with crystal clear turquoise water, suitable for families as the waves are not too big.

4. Visit Batu Bolong Temple, Senggigi
Pura Batu Bolong is a stunning Hindu temple in Lombok built from black volcanic rock. There is no entrance fee, but a donation is required! You should pay at least 20,000 IDR (1,30 USD) per person.
Pura Batu Bolong Temple is open daily from sunrise to sunset, usually from 6 AM to 6 PM. Free parking is available at the entrance.
Dress respectfully or borrow a free sarong for your visit.
Good to know
You are not allowed to enter the temple during your period!
5. Take a Day Trip to the Gili Islands
The Gili Islands consist of three small islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air) located off the northwest coast of Lombok, Indonesia. If you have limited time in Lombok, you can easily take a day trip from Senggigi to the Gili Islands and visit the most popular snorkel spots.
You can take a private or shared snorkeling boat trip around the islands, snorkel with turtles, and see the underwater sculptures of Gili Meno.

6. Visit the Waterfalls
Are you looking for one of the best waterfalls in Lombok? Benang Kelambu and Benang Stokel are our favorite waterfalls in Lombok, about a 1.5-hour drive from Senggigi. A magnificent wall of vines with cascades is one of the most beautiful scenery we have seen in Indonesia.

The best way to visit the waterfalls is to join a day trip from Senggigi. Alternatively, you can get there by renting a motorbike or hiring a driver. Once you arrive, buy your entrance ticket and visit the waterfalls.
7. Go Surfing
Are you a surf lover? Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, advanced, or even a pro surfer, you can enjoy the waves or take a surfing lesson.
There are a few surf schools near Senggigi Beach, and Senggigi is ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers.

Absolutely! It is a popular beach destination with beautiful, untouched sandy beaches, palm trees, crystal clear turquoise waters, a wide range of accommodations, and great restaurants.
Is it Safe to Travel to Senggigi, Lombok?
Yes, it is generally safe. However, petty theft sometimes occurs on the beaches, so always keep an eye on your valuables while swimming.
Currents and waves around Lombok can be strong and unpredictable, so be careful when swimming or snorkeling!
Always wear a helmet when riding a motorbike, and avoid driving at night.
How to Get Around Senggigi
The best way to get around Senggigi is to rent a scooter or hire a private driver. Unlike Nusa Penida, Lombok has well-maintained paved roads. Especially around Senggigi, you will love the picturesque scenery and incredible views while driving. As there are many beautiful photo spots along the way, allow more time to get from one place to another.
We rented a motorbike and explored Senggigi’s attractions at our own pace. Scooter rental starts from 65,000 IDR (4 USD) per day, but we don’t recommend paying more than 85,000 IDR (5 USD). If you rent a scooter for several days, ask for a discount!
