How to Get to Lombok
Lombok is an island located in West Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia. Getting to the island may seem difficult, but depending on your time and budget, there are three ways to get there. You can easily get to Lombok by fast boat, slow ferry, or plane. Most people arrive from the Gili Islands or Bali and start their 5-day Lombok Itinerary.
TIP
Use Skyscanner to find cheap flights to Lombok, Indonesia.
The fast ferry or plane is the most comfortable and quickest way to get from Bali to Lombok. We have a detailed post on how to get from Bali to Lombok with all the information you need.
We arrived by boat from Gili Air to Senggigi, the journey took 20 minutes to Bangsal Port in Lombok. The boat ticket was 6 USD per person, which included hotel drop-off in Senggigi.
The distance between Senggigi and Bangsal Harbour is 35 minutes.

Best Time to Visit Lombok
Indonesia has two seasons: a dry season and a rainy season. Lombok is a popular destination all year round. But the best time to visit Lombok is during the dry season, from May to October. The weather is sunny and dry during these months, perfect for swimming, hiking, and exploring the island. August is the driest month.
Lombok has a tropical climate with high humidity, and the average temperature is 28°C all year round. We visited Lombok in May, and the weather was fantastic, so we think this is one of the best months for a 5-day Lombok Itinerary.
It’s good to know that during the rainy season (from November to April) or when the sea conditions are bad, the boat schedules can change and be delayed a lot, so plan your trip to Lombok!
The busiest time to visit Lombok is between July and August. In high season, we strongly recommend booking accommodation, ferry tickets, and tours in advance.
Lombok Itinerary for 5 Days
Day 1: Arrive in Senggigi, Lombok
Welcome to Lombok! We hope you had a great flight or ferry journey and are ready to explore this beautiful island.
Senggigi is the perfect place to start your 5-day Lombok Itinerary. It is a popular beach destination on the west coast of Lombok Island, with beautiful pristine sandy beaches, palm trees, and crystal clear turquoise waters.
Depending on when you arrive in Senggigi, you can choose to start exploring the area or relax at one of the beach resorts. You can chill out by the pools, sunbathe, and enjoy a delicious cocktail or a cold coconut at the beach club.
We stayed at Holiday Resort Lombok, set amidst lush tropical gardens overlooking the sparkling sea, and we really enjoyed our stay.

- Mid-Range: Holiday Resort Lombok or Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort

Day 2: Explore the Beaches or Visit the Gili Islands
Good morning! It’s time to continue your 5-day Lombok Itinerary.
We rented a motorbike and explored Senggigi’s attractions at our own pace. This is the best way to find hidden gems, the best restaurants, or meet the locals. Especially around Senggigi, you will love the picturesque scenery and incredible views while driving.
Scooter rental starts from 65,000 IDR (4 USD) per day, but we don’t recommend paying more than 85,000 IDR (5 USD).
As there are many beautiful photo spots along the way, allow more time to get from one place to another! Don’t miss the stunning view at the Senggigi View sign, just a 5-minute drive from Senggigi Beach.

Important note
You can change the second day of the 5-day Lombok Itinerary and take a private or shared snorkeling boat tour to the Gili Islands instead of visiting the beaches of Senggigi.
The Gili Islands consist of three small islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air) located off the northwest coast of Lombok, Indonesia. You can take a boat trip around the islands, snorkel with turtles, and see the underwater sculptures of Gili Meno.

Day 3: Day Trip to Benang Stokel & Benang Kelambu Waterfall
Indonesia is home to many magical waterfalls, which makes Lombok one of the best destinations for chasing waterfalls. Are you ready for one of the highlights of your 5-day Lombok Itinerary? Benang Kelambu is one of the best waterfalls in Lombok, and you can easily visit it from Senggigi.
It is located about a 1.5-hour drive from Senggigi. You can get there by renting a motorbike or hiring a driver.
Alternatively, book your waterfall tour through GetYourGuide.
Once you arrive, buy your entrance ticket and visit the waterfalls.
We have a detailed post about Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu Waterfall with everything you need to know before you visit.

Sendang Gile & Tiu Kelep Waterfall
As the journey time from Senggigi to Senaru is short, after arrival, you can visit the Senaru Traditional Village, have lunch at Rinjani Lighthouse Cottages, and explore some of Lombok’s most beautiful waterfalls.
Air Terjun Tiu Kelep is one of the most famous waterfalls in Indonesia, so don’t miss it. Once you arrive at the official ticket office, buy your entrance ticket and hike to the waterfalls.
TIP
Plan your visit to spend at least 2-3 hours at the waterfalls.

Day 5: Mount Rinjani Hike
Are you looking for an unforgettable adventure on your 5-day Lombok Itinerary? Mount Rinjani is the most popular and challenging hike in Lombok. At 3,726 meters, Mount Rinjani is the second-highest volcano in Indonesia, where you can do an epic crater rim hike.
Depending on your time, fitness level, and budget, you can choose a 1-night or multi-day Mount Rinjani tour. If you are short on time, the most popular option is the 2-day, 1-night tour, but if you want to get the most out of your experience, we recommend booking a 3-day, 2-night tour.
Mount Rinjani National Park entrance fee is 150,000 IDR (9 USD) per person per day.
We do not recommend this difficult hike if you are not in good physical condition. Alternatively, you can hike to Pergasingan Hill and visit Bukit Selong Rice Field Viewpoint.
The journey from Senaru to Sembalun takes about 40-50 minutes by motorbike. Pergasingan Hill is a popular hiking and camping spot, so it’s worth spending a night there.
Good to know
Unlike Mount Rinjani, Pergasingan Hill is open all year round! Due to heavy rains, Mount Rinjani is closed from January to March.

Day 6: Leave Lombok Island or Continue your Lombok Itinerary
In the morning, hike down from Mount Rinjani, collect your luggage, have lunch, and then travel to your next stop in Lombok or the airport.
We hope you enjoyed your visit to Lombok! But it’s time to leave Lombok and travel back to Bali or continue your Indonesia trip to Java.
The easiest way to get from Lombok to Bali is to take a short domestic flight. Bali is just a 45-minute flight from Lombok. The journey from Senaru to Lombok International Airport takes about 3 hours.
